Before, insect bites do not post any medical danger or serious problems. However, insects can be carriers of different illnesses and diseases. Once the insect bites got infected by bacteria, it poses a great danger to the patient.

Insect bites can become very itchy and cannot be tolerated by a small kid. This makes you worried. You will protect your kid at all costs from insect bites by using insect repellants. Here are some health tips on how you can use insect repellant correctly.

Before buying any brand of insect repellant, read the label. Remember, what you use for your three-year-old daughter cannot be used for your eight-month-old baby. Follow the instructions and the precautionary measures carefully.

Go to an open area. Hold the insect repellant away from your child about six to eight inches. Spray it to the body parts of your kid. This is to avoid your child to breathe in the midst of the insect repellant.

If it is a lotion, apply only on his clothing and exposed skin. Do not apply insect repellant under your child’s clothing, eyes, mouth, hands, irritated skin, and open cuts.

Apply as well on the face of your child. Spray or put an adequate amount on your palm. Gently apply on your child’s neck and face. It’s a no-no to spray directly the insect repellant onto your child’s face.

One of the health tips that you need to keep in mind is when you need to apply both sunscreen lotion and insect repellant, apply first the sunscreen lotion.
